Synopsis

Over a millennium ago, eminent scientists like Khwarizmi, Ibn Sina, and others emerged from the region that now spans from Türkiye to Kazakhstan. However, today, this whole area faces challenges in the progress of science and technology & research. This study explores the issues within academia that cause the lack of scientific collaboration. The study also highlights the importance of universities in this region engaging in collaborative research to address existing challenges, e.g., one significant barrier identified is the lack of funding for interdisciplinary research, either within or across borders. It also discusses strategies to overcome such obstacles. The establishment of a "Khwarizmi-Ibn Sina Knowledge Corridor" is suggested as a solution that will also potentially drive economic prosperity. Revitalizing scientific collaboration in this area could open new avenues of thought, much like the intellectual renaissance that occurred here a millennium ago.
