Chapter 15: Contributions of Translation and Interpretation Departments in Türkiye to Higher Education

The need for translation has increased with the industrialization revolution and developments in the technological field. For this reason, translation departments were opened in universities, and translation trainings started to be given. Today, they are working to contribute to the internationalization of universities. In the study, first, the history of internationalization and internationalization in higher education were discussed, and the studies carried out in the direction of internationalization were mentioned. Second, the relation between translation and internationalization concepts was highlighted. Next, the examples were presented from the activities of translation and translation departments of universities in Turkey, and suggestions were made to increase internationalization in higher education in line with these findings. As a result, it was seen that translation and interpreting departments meet many of the objectives in higher education, and translation is one of the most important tools of internationalization.
