ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING IN PRODUCT DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT
Synopsis
The aim of this book is to highlight the role of Additive Manufacturing (AM) or 3D printing technology in assisting product design and development activities. The book comprises 11 chapters which cover various aspects of AM technologies, materials, and applications. The first chapter discusses the fundamental overview of AM. The following chapters then discuss the use of AM in various emerging AM applications such as lattice designs, tooling fabrications, tissue engineering, biomedical devices, robotic part productions, wind turbine fabrications, and consumer product development. Performance analysis of components fabricated by AM in terms of microstructure and mechanical properties is also presented. Each chapter brings in valuable insights on how AM can be integrated as part of product design verification and final product fabrication. Hence, this volume provides readers the awareness of AM technologies and their potentials, either in research-based or product commercialisation activities. The book is intended for a broad audience ranging from academic researchers to those who are in the industry, interested in gaining basic knowledge on how AM can be used during product design and development activities.
